The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, has announced the cancellation of mineral titles for 1,633 holders, issuing a stern warning to the former title holders to immediately vacate the relevant cadastre.

At a media briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, Alake disclosed that the revocation was a result of the holders’ failure to pay the prescribed annual service fees. Despite a 30-day written default notice from the Mining Cadastre Office, the holders were found in violation and non-compliance with their statutory obligations to the government.

To enforce the revocation, security agencies, in collaboration with the Mines Inspectorate of the Ministry, have been granted authority to apprehend any defaulters located in the areas where titles have been revoked.’
