Police Say Investigation Underway On Tiwa Savage’s Bullying Petition Against Davido
The Lagos State Police Command has initiated investigations into a petition filed by renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, against Grammy nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The spokesperson for the Lagos police, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the receipt of the petition and stated, “I can confirm that we received the petition. We have begun investigations.”
The genesis of this unfolding saga traces back to the social media realm when both artists conspicuously unfollowed each other on Instagram. Speculation arose that this move was linked to Tiwa’s association with Davido’s estranged baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
Tensions escalated further when Tiwa’s ex-husband, Teebillz, publicly expressed his intention to address Davido for what he perceived as a “disrespect” to his family.
In a letter dated January 9, shared on social media, Tiwa Savage detailed the sequence of events, pinpointing a post on her Instagram story featuring Sophia Momodu on December 23 as the catalyst. According to Tiwa, Davido accused her of taunting him and used “malicious and derogatory words” against her.
Quoting parts of the letter, Tiwa disclosed, “The events of the day have also led to a barrage of calls and messages from our mutual connections, asking me what I did to Mr. David Adeleke. He is upset that I choose to maintain a relationship with Imade’s mother, whom he’s having issues with, and is also portraying the exchange to make it appear as if I was the aggressor.”
Heightening the gravity of the situation, she conveyed, “He also told our mutual connections to warn me to ‘be careful in Lagos because he is going to f*ck me up.'” Expressing concern for her safety, Tiwa Savage implored the police commissioner to hold Davido accountable should any harm befall her or her family.
As the investigation unfolds, the music industry and the public keenly await developments in this celebrity dispute that has taken a legal turn
