FG Approves N225/KWH Electricity Tariff Hike

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved an increase of 300 per cent electricity tariff that will allow power distribution firms to raise prices to N225 per kilowatt-hour for Band A consumers in the country.

This new price increase moved from N68 for urban consumers effective from April 1, 2024

Vice chairman of NERC, Musiliu Oseni, who made this announcement in Abuja, however, clarified that the rate increase will affect only 15 per cent of the customers in the country who consume 40 per cent electricity in the country.
