ALAT, the digital bank powered by Wema Bank has upgraded to version 2.0 as it seeks to deliver more value to its customers who are increasing daily.

Launched in May 2017, ALAT is Nigeria’s first fully digital bank, designed in response to the growing needs of Nigerian millennials for financial institutions that understand their fast-paced lifestyle, responds quickly to their needs and helps them save money.

To further reinforce its commitment to understanding and responding quickly to the needs of its customers, ALAT has upgraded to improve ease of use and value to customers.

Coming fresh with a new easier to use interface, with ALAT 2.0, customers can send money to people whose account numbers they do not know, by using their phone numbers, email addresses or social media handles.

Customers will also be able to save more with deals that offer up to 30 percent discount on purchases done using ALAT cards.

“These and many other benefits are available on ALAT 2.0,” head of Brand & Marketing Communications,  Wema Bank, Funmilayo Falola said.

According to her, “We will continue working hard to add more features that our customers need. We have introduced ALAT to ensure customers get everything they have ever wanted in a bank.”

Speaking further on the upgrade, she also lauds the industry for taking note of Wema Bank’s innovation.

She said, “Our game-changing digital bank has been recognized by everyone in the industry and beyond, with a couple of awards have following this. The latest is the Business Day Banking Award.”

ALAT by Wema was named the Digital Banking Platform of the year by Business Day, Nigeria’s foremost business newspaper. The Bank was also recently nominated as the best innovative digital solution in Nigeria by the World Summit Awards.

The Bank is now competing with 99 other nominees from across the world for the global top prize. Few weeks ago, ALAT won an award for Excellence in Branchless Banking in the New Age Banking Awards.

ALAT can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. It provides end-to-end banking services digitally, without the need for physical branches. The bank also delivers free debit cards to its users and helps develop a saving culture with its automated savings goals feature that pays 10% interest.

Adoption of ALAT has exceeded expectations, with the bank passing the 100,000 accounts milestone early in October 2017. An average of 500 ALAT accounts are opened every day through the bank’s 10 For 10 referral program alone. The program pays up to 1,000 naira for each referral made.
