Bwari  Area Council says it is distributing over 1,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers and other inputs at subsidised rate to farmers in the area as they set to commence  the farming season.

The Chairman of the Council, Mr Musa Dikko said the fertilisers are in form of Urea and NPK and various seedlings produced from the Council’s 2017 demonstration farms.

“This, Dikko was in line with the ‘Go Back To Farm’ project of the present administration Council and also to encourage farmers to produce more and also encouraging others to invest in the agriculture sector.

“They are getting the inputs at subsidised rate, which is as good as free of charge,” he said.

Dikko also added that the Council, in its effort to encourage other sectors, has contributed learning materials to schools in the area, which included desks and books.

According to Dikko, 400 women and 100 youths received N10, 000 each as an empowerment to enable them start up small businesses and become self-employed.

The chairman also explained that his administration would ensure it completes all ongoing projects in the area to the benefit of the people.

“Our major focus is to ensure the completion of the projects we have started, which have direct bearing to the people.

“We don’t want to leave any project uncompleted or abandoned, as this is detrimental to the success of any administration,” he said.
