Daura Local Government Council in Katsina State, says it has begun the sale and distribution of 12,905 bags of fertiliser for wet season farming.
Alhaji Lawal Garba, who heads the local council committee on sales and distribution of fertiliser, said at the commencement of the sales on Tuesday in Daura that the commodity is being sold at N5,000 per bag across the 11 electoral wards and 145 polling units of the area.
He warned the beneficiaries against sharp practices and commended the Katsina State Government for the timely supply of the commodity.
Also, the Acting Chairman, Daura local council Alhaji Lawal Kado-Kaita described the early supply of the fertilizer as a welcome development and called for its sustenance.
The chairman represented an official of the council, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal-Kamilu noted that regular supply of the commodity for wet and dry season farming would enhance food security and generate employment.
Malam Ali Yaro, one of the beneficiaries said the early distribution of the commodity would enhance farming activities in the area.
The Katsina State Government had procured 27,000 metric tons of fertiliser for the current farming season.
