Buhari, Tog Govt Officials For Oil Workers’ 40th Anniversary

President Muhammadu Buhari, alongside top government officials together with stakeholders in the oil and gas sector are expected at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) holding October 18, in Abuja.

Francis Olabode Johnson, its National President of the Association, Francis Olabode Johnson said the event will among others create the opportunity to reward Nigerians who laid down their lives for humanity or took risks to safeguard lives and properties.

He said: “For instance, we would honour Joseph Blankson who died while saving others in a boat mishap. We will also honour the Muslim cleric that saved hundreds of Christians from being killed by gunmen in plateau state.

“We are celebrating those who have added value to human life.

“We will also be establishing a Distant Learning Centre and events centre for manpower development and job creation. We will also consider issues around the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), divestment of the International Oil Companies (IOCs), among others.
