University of Osun graduates 3,164 students

Acting Vice-Chancellor of University of Osun, Prof. Oguntola Alamu, said on Friday that the university would graduate 3,164 students at its combined fourth and fifth convocation.

Alamu, who stated this at a news conference in Osogbo, said that the event had been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

He said that the convocation would be for students, who graduated in the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic sessions in the six faculties of the institution.

He said that 27 of the graduates in the 2013/2014 session and 24 in 2014/2015 session bagged First Class degrees.

The vice-chancellor said that the university had maintained a tradition of excellence in teaching and character moulding, adding that the school had produced intellectuals, who were contributing to the development to the nation’s economy.

He said that the university remained committed to the full implementation and evaluation of its 2012-2016 Strategic Plan.

“Since the last convocation ceremony in 2014, Osun State University has continued to make progress in teaching, research, community service and physical infrastructural development.

“The 2014/2015 academic session witnessed the resuscitation of Entrepreneurial Training for the final year students, in line with the mission of the university.

“I am delighted to inform you that most of the graduates will be collecting two certificates by the end of this ceremony – Bachelor’s degree certificate and the Entrepreneurship Skill certificate,” he said.

He said that the convocation lecture entitled “Sustainable Tertiary Education in Post-Oil Nigeria” would be delivered by Prof. Micheal Faborode on Sunday. (NAN)
