There were wild celebrations by artisans, tricycle riders and other youths in different parts of the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday following the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The youths were seen in convoys of cars, motorcycles and tricycles in Garki Area 1, Area 3 junction, Wuse, Dutse and Kubwa, driving around recklessly in jubilation.

They were also wielding brooms of various sizes as they sang and danced taking over the roads and paralyzing traffic in parts of the city.

In Kubwa, a satellite town in the FCT, the mostly Hausa youths moved around with a band, singing and dancing, while shouting ‘Sai Baba’ in an apparent reference to Buhari’s re-election.

They were similarly seen along Byazhin Road, Arab Road and around the Kubwa village market.

The group at Area One cruised around in a long motorcade comprising taxicabs, tricycles and motorcycles waving brooms in the air and singing raucously.

Some of them sat in car trunks while others who were more daring stood on speeding motorcycles. Their activities paralyzed traffic around the area as they forced motorists to shout ‘Sai Baba’ in solidarity with them.

One of them, Mohammed Ismail, said he was overjoyed by the President’s electoral victory, saying God had answered his prayers.
