The House of Representatives on Tuesday commenced investigation into
the alleged sale of multi-billion naira company called ASCORT Asset
Management Company, in flagrant abuse of due process.
Uzoma Nkem- Abonta, chairman, House Committee on Public Petitions who
presided over the investigative public hearing, summoned Ahmed Kuru,
Managing Director of Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) to
appear before the Committee on Tuesday, 16th April, 2019.
During the consideration of the petition, Nkem-Abonta also summoned
Scot Gregory, Managing Director of Bright Waters Energy Nig. Limited.
According to the petition, ASCORT asset management company was the
original owner of company handed over to Pai Energy which paid part
payment of N3.6 billion into AMCON’s coffer.
The petitioner, further alleged that the Corporation further disposed
Pai Energy and later sold the company to called Bright Waters Energy
Nigeria Limited.
Worried by the development, the Committee resolved to summon the
Managing Director of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON)
and Scot Gregory, an American citizen to give details of the asset in
contention.
While ruling, Uzoma-Abonta threatened to issue a warrant of arrest
against Ahmed Kuru, AMCON managing Director and Bright Scot Gregory,
CEO/Managing Director of Bright Waters Energy Nig. Limited, if they
fail to appear before the Committee on Tuesday, 16th April, 2019.
