The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Wednesday’s trading session in positive territory. The All-Share Index closed at 27,681.61 basis points, up by 0.99%
Ecobank Transnational Incorporation was the best-performing stock on Wednesday when it gained 10% to close at N8.8, Stanbic IBTC Bank added 6.53% to close at N39.95. Guaranty Trust Bank advanced by 4.56% to close at N29.8. Lafarge Africa also inched up 4.08% to close at N15.3. MTN Nigeria completed the top five gainers chart, appreciating by 0.72. close at N140.
Conversely, Champion Breweries Plc was the worst-performing stock, declining by 8.80% to close at N1.14. Forte Oil went down by 2.14% to close at N16. FBN Holdings depreciated by 0.92% to close at N5.4. Custodian and Allied Insurance dipped 0.83% to close at N5.95 while United Bank for Africa rounded off the top five losers for the day, shedding 0.78% to close at N6.35.
Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was the most actively-traded stock today as it traded 98.4 million shares valued at N2.8 billion were traded, Access Bank Plc was next with 40.7 million shares worth N314.4 million traded, followed by FBN Holdings Plc with 40 million shares valued at N216.6 million exchanged.
FCMB Plc sold 20 million shares worth N33.8 million, Sterling Bank Plc rounded off the top five most actively traded stocks with 17.5 million shares valued at N38.8 million
As part of corporate actions for the day, the Management and Board of Directors of International Breweries Plc announced the appointment of Tolulope Adedeji as a Director. The brewer, in a statement made available to the public, disclosed that Adedeji’s appointment took effect from Wednesday, September 18, 2019
