Appeal Court Grant Stay of Execution On Ruling Disqualifying Lyon
An Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has granted Stay of Execution on the judgment of the Federal High Court in Yenagoa barring the APC from participating in Saturday’s election.
With this development, the party may still fill a candidate for the guber election which comes up Saturday
Federal High Court Yenagoa had earlier today ruled, invalidating the candidacy of David Lyon, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election in Bayelsa State.
Justice Jane Inyang ruled that the guber primary conducted by the APC was not in compliance with the guidelines and the constitution of the party, and, therefore, the party has no candidate.
The riling came after an Federal High Court in Abuja Tuesday also disqualified Mr Lyon’s running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, from participating in the forthcoming election on the grounds that he provided conflicting information on the documents he presented to INEC.
