Manchester United are ready to launch a £42m bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele to replace the injured Marcus Rashford.

The Daily Mail also reports that the striker’s future at Lyon could be back up in the air after the club was able to secure a possible replacement in the form of Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi.

But Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says the club intend to keep Dembele this month.

Sky Sports News reported earlier in the window that Chelsea was also willing to pay £34m to sign the striker this month – an offer that was rejected.

Speaking at the unveiling of new signing Karl Toko Ekambi on loan from Villarreal, Aulas said, “We want to keep Moussa Dembele and Lucas Tousart. For me, they will both stay. Now is not the time to weaken.”
