NITDA Trains 100 Women on ICT for Enhanced Productivity

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has begun training of 100 women in the North Central Zone through its fourth consecutive zonal capacity building programme and training for women.
The programme is geared towards boosting women productivity through the application of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools to enhance their businesses and broaden their entrepreneurship skills.
According to the NITDA Director-General, Abdullahi Kashifu, “the programme for South-South and South-East zones would be conducted before end of the fourth quarter of 2020, stating that the programme has already held in, Gombe state for the North East Zone, Ekiti State for the South West Zone and Jigawa state for the North West Zone respectively.
Kashifu said the training was part of efforts to bridge gender inequality in ICT related ventures, further empower women to be more productive and contribute to the economic growth of the country.
Declaring the Programme open at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafiya, the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, noted that it had become necessary for the state to move its economy from solid minerals resources to ICT and knowledge-based economy.
Participants at the training were drawn from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Benue and the Nasarawa States.
