The Honourable Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Uche Sampson Ogah has lauded the federal government on its efforts at curbing the ravaging coronavirus and enjoined Nigerians, especially people of Abia State to undertake personal safety procedures and abide by government measures against the dreaded disease.
The federal government, after an emergency meeting of the revenue-generating agencies with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele and some ministers has introduced several measures at combating the spread the virus which has recorded 46 cases and one death in the country.
While the government ordered federal workers to stay at home, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced a N1 trillion stimulus package in addition to a N100 billion facility for the health sector and another N50 billion for small businesses and households affected by the pandemic.
The Minister, in a statement by Chijioke Udeogu, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his strong direction and leadership in mitigating the effect of Covid-19 virus and equally counseled that “all government agencies should carry out Mr. President’s directives completely in order to protect our existence as Nigerians”.
Ogah cautioned Nigerians on the need to be on guard wherever they are at a time like this, advising that social distancing must be put into practice in order to protect ourselves and other fellow countrymen from this pandemic.
As a man of strong faith in God and a stickler to self-discipline, the Honourable Minister maintains that everyone should engage in serious prayers for God’s intervention and thorough personal hygiene which includes but not limited to constant handwashing with suitable hand sanitizers or a combination of soap and water.
In conclusion, Ogah states that God in his infinite mercies will uphold Nigeria as He’s proven to do and that this pandemic shall pass over this great Nation and our survival shall be a reference point to the whole world to the glory of God.
