Omo-Agege Felicitates With Daddy Showkey At 50
The Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has felicitated with veteran musician, John Odafe Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, on his 50th birthday.
In a congratulatory message personally signed by him, Omo-Agege rejoiced with the Delta-born artiste whose works remain evergreen.
The senator, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, said the popular ‘Galala’ singer was a source of inspiration not only to aspiring music artistes but also to the entire Nigerian youth in general.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that many young Nigerians would be further inspired with the story of how the ‘Daddy Showkey’ beat many odds in his life’s journey when he started his musical career in Ajegunle, Lagos State.
“Over the years, you have used your music to educate and entertain Nigerians and rekindle the joy in the hearts of millions of people.
“As the first artiste to start the Nigerian Dancehall style, your use of Pidgin English in your music invented a dance style that changed the Nigerian Dancehall scene.
“You are not only a true ambassador of Isokoland and Delta State in particular but Nigeria as a whole. You are an embodiment of the can-do spirit of the average Nigerian,” he stated.
Omo-Agege prayed that God will grant the veteran musician many more years in good health.
