The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has concluded plans to construct a 33KV line from Okpella to Igarrain in Edo State.

In a report obtained from its Twitter handle @BEDCpower, it noted that it has finalised the design and was at the stage of awarding the contract for the construction of the 33KV line.
“The improved reliable power supply from the project will not only boost business activities of the quarries around the area, but it will as well promote SMEs too,” it said.
It further explained that the project once completed will change the source of supply to the 60 MVA power transformer at Okpella transmission station.
It added, “The existing source from Okeene transmission station, which is under the franchise of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be cut off.
“It hasn’t been reliable because of the lengthy feeder and the fact that it’s not within their control.”
BEDC, however, guaranteed that the new source, which will be under its network, will supply adequate, quality and reliable power to Igarra, Ibilo, Ososo, and other communities in the Akoko LGA of Edo state.
With a geographical coverage of of 55,770 square kilometers, BEDC has under its franchise areas four states namely Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti.
