NGX Market Cap Rises N36bn
The bulls edged out the bears during trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Wednesday, as the All-Share Index and Market Capitalization rose by 0.18 per cent.
The ASI, the benchmark for Equities on the NGX jumped by 0.18 per cent or 68.15 index point to close the transaction at 38,482.52 basis point up from its opening value of 38,414.37 basis point.
The NGX market capitalisation which is the total value of all listed companies on the Nigerian Bourse gained N36 billion representing 0.18 per cent to stand at N20.058 trillion from its last closing at N20.022 trillion.
The NGX was lifted by the rise in the shares of medium and small Equities like University Press Plc, Royal Exchange Plc, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc, Regency Assurance Plc and Veritas kapital.
The market turnover decreased by 43 per cent, as 156.905 million shares valued at N1.329 billion in 3,273 deals exchanged hands amongst investors compared to 274. 852 million shares worth N2.632 billion in 4,159 deals traded on Tuesday.
The market breadth was negative with 20 declined equities and 15 stocks appreciating as against 18 gainers compared to 17 losers recorded the previous trading session.
University Press led the gainers in percentage terms when it jumped 9.38 per cent to close at N1. 40 Kobo per share.
Regency Assurance Plc and Veritas Kapital followed with 8.16 and 5 per cent gains to close at N0. 53 Kobo and N0. 21 Kobo per share respectively.
Also, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc, surged by 4.17 per cent to close at N0. 75 Kobo per share, while Royal Exchange rose by 3.90 per cent to close at N0. 80 Kobo per share.
Conversely, the losers’ table was dominated in percentage parameters by CWG Plc, losing 9.66 per cent to close at N1. 87 Kobo per share.
Ikeja Hotel Plc dipped 9.09 per cent to close at N1. 00 per share, while Nascon fell 8.78 per cent to close at N13. 50 Kobo per share.
In the same vein, John Holt Plc and Linkage Assurance depreciated by 8.62 and 8.33 per cent to close at N0. 53 Kobo and N0.55 Kobo per share respectively.
Japaul Gold Plc closed the transaction on the NGX as the most active equity, trading at 19.949 million shares valued at N11.405 million, while UACN returned as the most valuable stock at N118.8738 million.
