Again, Adewale Aeroland Wins PDP Ticket For Lagos West.
Segun Adewale won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for the Lagos West Senatorial District seat on Monday night, defeating Yomi Ogungbe with 264 votes at the Stadplus event centre in Ikeja.
While announcing the results, Daniel Ugo-Unibaiye, the Returning Officer, stated that due process was followed during the primaries.
Adewale thanked the delegates for voting for him and promised to work with party members to win the secondary election in a press conference.
Adewale, also known as Aeroland, praised the election process and the opportunity to be presented as the PDP flag bearer, urging party members to unite and ensure the PDP’s victory in the 2023 elections.
“My priority is to reconcile with my opponent, Yomi Ogungbe so that we can be better united and work together as one.
“We must tidy up all the differences within our party before we move ahead to the main elections,” he said.
He also urged voters, particularly young people, to register, obtain a Permanent Voter’s Card, and vote in the upcoming elections.
Adewale claimed that by doing so, the people would get the new Nigeria they desired.
According to reports, 356 delegates from the senatorial district’s ten Local Government Areas were expected to participate in the exercise.
Agege, Alimosho, Amuwo-Odofin, Ajeromi, Badagry, Ikeja, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ojo, Mushin, and Oshodi/Isolo are the areas.
However, Ojo and Amuwo-Odofin were not represented among the ten local government areas during the exercise. Otunba Segun Adewale, popularly known as Segun Aeroland, ran for senator in 2015 on the PDP platform.
He was defeated by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, a.k.a. Yayi of the APC, who has now moved to Ogun West to run for re-election in 2023
