IoD Centre, Others Partner On Corporate Governance Summit
The Institute of Directors (IoD) Centre for Corporate Governance (IoDCCG) in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) has concluded plans to host a two-day national Summit on sound corporate governance.
The two-day National Corporate Governance Summit 2022 (NCGS 2022) scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos on November 7th and 8th 2022, will have the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo as special guest, Okey Enelamah, Chairman African Capital Alliance and Immediate Past Minister, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, as Chairman of the Occasion.
The Board Chairman, of Polaris Bank Limited, Mohammed Kabir Ahmad, is expected to present the keynote address to participants drawn from different private and public sector organizations and fields of endeavor across the country.
A statement said that FRC, IoDCCG, and ICSAN, are coming together to create a platform for facilitating robust conversations on a wide range of subject matter with the theme: “Building a Strong and Virile Economy: The Role of Corporate Governance.”
The statement jointly signed by NOC Co-Chairmen, Seye Awojobi, and Iheanyi Anyahara, said that the theme underlines the imperative of the practical application of the principles and practices of Corporate Governance as espoused in the NCCG 2018, other relevant sectoral codes and extant laws.
Seye Awojobi is the Registrar/CEO, of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, while Iheanyi Anyahara is the Director, of the Directorate Of Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Council Of Nigeria.
According to the statement, the event will create awareness and enhance the knowledge of private and public sector participants on the practical application of the principles and practices of Corporate Governance and its link towards creating sustainable pathways for the Nation’s Economic Development and Growth.
“The summit is expected to expose leaders in the various sectors of the Nigerian economy to critical connections between strong corporate governance and outstanding performance in areas as wide-ranging as revenue enhancement, operational efficiency, image protection and reputation, brand attraction, sustainability, and economic development,” the group stated.
According to the statement, corporate governance experts and global leaders who are adept and skillful in imparting a high level of knowledge will lead high level conversations on the theme of the summit, case studies, and scenarios of strong corporate governance practices and the nexus with economic growth.
Highlights of the event will be group discussions as well as networking opportunities for participants with renowned and prolific leaders across public and private sectors as well international community who will share their wealth of knowledge and experience on the subject matter during plenary sessions that will follow.
