Kwara Plans Remote Work Model, Cuts Workdays To Three

The Kwara State Government may soon adopt a remote working style following the directive that work days be reduced from five days to three for every worker in the state.

The state government on Monday hinged the cut in workdays to the astronomical hike in transport fare owing to the increase in the price of petrol.

Consequently, the State Head of Service, Susan Oluwole, has directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under them.

Oluwole said that the government took a temporary measure to ease the burden on public workers in the state.

She also said that it was part of measures to relieve the state workers of the hardship being experienced as a result of the fuel subsidy removal announced by the Federal Government.

She, however, warned the workers not to abuse the magnanimity of the governor, stressing that the regular monitoring of MDAs by her office would be intensified to ensure strict compliance

Transport fares have gone up across the country owing to the hike in the petrol price as a result of the removal of the oil subsidy.

President Bola Tinubu last Monday announced the removal of oil subsidy which has drained the country of huge resources, and led to a huge debt overhang.

The administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari spent $26 billion on oil subsidies in eight years.
