NLC, TUC And ULC Embarks On Nationwide Strike

The Nigeria labour congress and other partner in the organised labour have jointly declared an indefinite strike action commencing from November 6, 2018.
The strike was embarked on following the refusal of the federal government and state government to act positively on the 30,000.00 National Minimum wage as argued by the tripartite committee on the review of the national Minimum wage.
In complying with the directive of the labour centers, various organisation and bodies under the congress have further joined and shown support to the nationwide strike.
Association of Nigeria Aviation professionals (ANAP) have issued out a notice to all workers in the aviation sector to withdraw all services from 00.00hrs of November 6, 2018, which is applicable to all business and agencies under the aviation sector.
Also, a circular signed by the general secretary of NASU, Peter A, Adeyemi (JP) stated that all members in all branches across the 36 states and federal capital have being directed to compliance with the organised labour’s position and embark on a total and indefinite strike.
National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), through a signed circular by the genial secretary Joe Ajareo added that the organised labour have demonstrated enough commitment to resolve the impasse through social dialogue but the government has continued to renege from implementing the agreement reached.
‘’All member are therefore directed to stay away from work stating from Tuesday in compliance with the directive until otherwise directed’’ he added.
According to the Congress, any company management which attempts to thwart the strike action in any form should note and expect appropriate reaction at the end of the exercise.
Likewise, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Enginners (NAAPE), and other organisations have embarked and joined in the total and indefinite strike action until further notice and update.
