Maisie Williams has spoken about life after the hit TV show, Game of Thrones.

The 21-year-old actress, who plays Arya Stark, spoke at a careers event at the University of St Andrews.

When asked what she would do when the final season airs in April, she said: “I don’t know. I’ll let you know on the final episode, I’ll probably be bawling my eyes out.”

“It feels like the right time. Now that I’m 21, people have been saying to me when this show finishes, you’re going to have your whole life and lots of opportunity”.

She went on to discuss the television industry and whether she would continue after Game of Thrones finishes.

The actress revealed she was no longer interested in chasing long term contracts.

Maisie Williams has played Arya Stark for eight years and all eight series.

She revealed she is disappointed by the lack of funding in certain areas on the entertainment industry.

Maisie explained: “Most of the films that I see in the cinema right now don’t really interest me, and unfortunately the movies that I read, that I really love, they just don’t get funded right now.

“I don’t know why that is. People aren’t funding British movies anymore, or just indie movies in general.”

Maisie went on to gush about developing characters over long periods of time, but also noted how contracts and shows can be “milked to death”.

The Arya Stark star said: “We really have come into television and I think it’s nice to be able to create characters over a long period of time.

“I think there are really wonderful things to television but at the end of the day, people are in it to make money and to sign long contracts and to milk things to death.”

She concluded: “And it’s just not something that interests me right now.”
