WAPCO, FBNH Losses Further Weaken Equities Value By N14bn

The Nigerian equities market capitalization Monday declined further by N14 billion, driven by losses recorded by WAPCO and FBNH.
The Nigerian equities market closed negative as NSE-ASI lost 0.12 percent to close at 22,705.19pts, driven by losses led by WAPCO, and FBNH as top decliners. However, in the day’s session, the market breadth index was positive with 18 gainers against 14 losers.
Equities market capitalization closed the day at N11, 832,241 trillion, having opened on Monday at N11, 846,914 trillion, reflecting N14billion dip.
WAPCO led the losers on Monday with N0.65 or -6.10 per cent, closing at N10 per share, followed by FBNH which declined by N0.3 or 7.50 per cent, ending trade at N3.7 per share, while UBA , as the third highest loser , dipped by N0.3 or 5.61 per cent, ending the session at N5.05 per share.
DANGSUGAR closed as the fourth highest loser with N0.3 or 2.96 per cent, closing trade at N9.85 per share, while SKYAVN, closed the top five losers chart at N2.23 per share, having declined by N0.25 or 9.73 per share. Also, TRANSCORP declined Monday by 10.00 per cent
GUARANTY emerged as the most active stock with 137,231,561 million shares worth N2,613,775,719.00 billion, followed by FBNH with 135,301,509 million shares worth N518,249,876.40 million, while ZENITHBANK, closed as the third most active stock with 133,172,941 million shares worth N1,649,042,011.00 billion.
ACCESS bank as the fourth most traded stock, polled 35,227,131 million shares, worth N194, 181,645.20 million, while UBA, as the fifth most active stock, recorded 22,814,079 million shares, worth N114, 913,119.70 million.
NSE Industrial Index declined by 0.52 per cent, due to the sell-off in WAPCO that dipped by -6.10 per cent. The NSE Consumer Goods Index depreciated by 0.16 per cent, as a result of the 2.96 per cent decline in DANGSUGAR and NB’s -0.18 per cent dip.
NSE Banking Index rose by 0.63 per cent, due to the buy-interests in UBN which appreciated 10.00 per cent, ZENITHBANK by +7.56 per cent,UNITYBNK bank by +5.00 per cent and ACCESS bank’s 1.85 per cent growth. The NSE Oil & Gas Index closed Flat.
JBERGER, emerged the best gainer Monday with N1.95 or 9.65 per cent, to close trade at N22.15 per share, followed by ZENITHBANK, with N0.9 or 7.56 per cent, ending the day at N12.8 per share, while UBN, closed as the third best gainer with N0.6 or 10.00 per cent, to end Monday’s trading session at N6.6 per share.
EKOCORP, as the fourth best gainer, appreciated by N0.5 or 9.09 per cent, to close at N6 per share, while PZ closed the top five gainers chart Monday at N4.05 per share, following N0.3 or 8.00 per cent growth.
