GTBank, FBNH In Strong Showing Despite 0.47% Share-Index Dip

The NSE All- Share-Index upward trend was halted midweek as market closed negative.
GTBank, FBNH maintained their strong hold in top activity chart, as investors remained upbeat on their shares.
The NSE ASI posted 0.47 per cent decline to close the day at 25,215.04, from 25,335.15 that opened trade midweek, the index dipped with 18 stocks recording gains against 19 stocks that recorded decline. However deals which closed Tuesday at 4,054, ended midweek at 3,883, reflecting 4.22 per cent decline. Volume of transacted stocks declined by 1.85 per cent to 260,54 million shares, from 265.44 million shares posted on the prior trading day.
However, value of stocks traded buoyed to N3.14 billion from N1.09 billion posted Tuesday, indicating 186.89 per cent rise. Equities market capitalisation closed down midweek by 0.47 per cent, to close at N13, 153.69 trillion, form N13, 216.34 trillion that opened trade midweek.
Following the decline, the year to date loss of the NSE worsened to 6.06%. Specifically, Tickers such as ZENITHBANK, UACN and BUACEMENT plunged by 1.78 per cent, 9.09 per cent and 3.94 per cent respectively as investors booked profit.
Hence, the NSE Banking, NSE Consumer Goods and NSE Industrial indices tanked by 0.14 per cent, 0.27 per cent and 2.54 per cent respectively. On the flip side, the NSE Insurance and NSE Oil/Gas Indices rose by 1.44 per cent and 0.20 per cent respectively.
However, market activity was upbeat weak as N1.6 billion worth of GUARANTY shares exchanged hands today, increasing the value of stocks traded by 186.9% to N3.13 billion. E
BUACEMENT which led the gainers on Tuesday, emerged highest loser on Tuesday with N1.7 or 3.94 per cent decline, to close trade at N41.5 per share, followed by UACN which depreciated in share price by N0.75 or 9.09 per cent, closing trade at N7.5 per share, while CILEASING closed as the third highest loser as it dropped by N0.5 or 9.43 per cent, to close trade at N4.8 per share.
GUINNESS, the fourth in the top losers chart closed at N17.5 per share, following decline in share price by N0.5 or 2.78 per cent, while ZENITH BANK closed the top five losers chart with N0.3 or 1.78 per cent dip, closing trade at N16.6 per share.
GUARANTY was the most active stock on Wednesday with 69,410,205 million shares turnover valued N1, 676,999,939.65 billion and transacted in 314 deals. GTBank closed trade midweek at N24.20 per share, following share price appreciation by N0.15.
MBENEFIT followed in the day’s activity chart with 51,762,859 million shares turnover valued N12, 392,340.46 million, transacted by investors in 152 deals. The stock appreciated by N0.02 to close the day at N0.24 per share. FBNH, the third most active stock polled 31,213,625 million shares turnover worth N167, 671,815.70 million recorded in 242 deals. FBNH closed trade at N5.35 per share.
JAPAULOIL, the third on the day’s activity chart recorded 18,735,616 million shares worth N4, 312,661.87 million recorded by investors in 80 deals. JAPAUL stock declined by N0.02 to close trade at N0.23 per share, while ZENITHBANK closed the day with 16,438,691 million shares turnover worth N274,860,029.25 million recorded by investors in 473 deals. The stock price declined by N0.3 to end the day at N16.6 per share.
OKOMUOIL closed midweek as the highest advancer with N3 or 4.69 per cent, closing trade at N67 per share. BERGER followed with N0.7 or 10.00 per cent growth, closing trade at N7.7 per share, while UPDCREIT closed as the third best gainer with N0.3 or 8.57 per cent growth to close at N3.8 per share.
NEIMETH closed as the fourth-best gainer at N2.34 per share, following growth by 0.21 or 9.86 per cent, while GUARANTY closed the top five gainers chart with N0.15 or 0.62 per cent, closing midweek at N24.2 per share.
