Re-elected Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC South-South National Commissioner, May Agbamuche-Mbu, presented the certificates of return to Governor Obaseki and Deputy Governor Shaibu
Agbamuche-Mbu said the governor fulfilled all the constitutional requirements to emerge winner of the election.
INEC had on Sunday declared the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Godwin Obaseki, as the winner of the Edo State Governorship Election.
The PDP polled 307,955 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who secured 223,619 votes.
According to INEC, PDP won 13 local government areas of Edo to emerge victorious in the just concluded election while APC won five local government areas.
