Ondo Election: FRSC to enforce restriction order on vehicular movement

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has directed its operatives deployed for the governorship election in Ondo State to enforce the restriction order on vehicular movement on Saturday (today).

 

The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, in a statement in Abuja, said the directive to comply with the restriction order was issued by the FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi.

 

The FRSC operatives were also mandated to clear road obstructions in Ondo in addition to carrying out rescue operations in case of emergencies, maintaining orderliness at the polling units, and certifying INEC Vehicles that would be used for conveying electoral materials.

 

Kazeem confirmed that a total of 1,500 FRSC personnel were deployed to Ondo for the election along with 30 towing trucks, ambulances and other operational vehicles.

 

The vehicles are to aid electoral processes in the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.

The FRSC team to Ondo is being led by the Zonal Commanding Officer RS11HQ Osogbo, Assistant Corps Marshal Godwin Ogagaoghene, which comprises of Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of Federal Operations, ACM Hyginus Omeje; Sector Commander Ondo State, Corps Commander A.T Hassan and others.

“The deployed personnel will engage in ensuring the following mandates are carried out: enforcement of no movement order, certification of INEC vehicles to be used to convey electoral materials, removal of obstructions and rescue operations as well as joining other sister agencies to maintain orderliness at assigned polling booths.

 

“The Corps Marshal has admonished the personnel to conduct themselves in a professional manner, carry out their duties diligently and ensure compliance with the Presidential Task Force directives on Covid-19 pandemic,” Kazeem stated.
